Blaster Magnet - Typical reference made by mercs refering to standard military officers - most especially to enemy targets.
CC - Command Control. Typically a planetside building with a large combat operations center.
Chronometer - A watch. Typically connects with local communications networks to stay accurate with planetary & galactic time.
Coalition League - Comprised of both the Confederate Star Alliance and the Federal Alliance.
CSA - Confederate Star Alliance.
DemZ - Demilitarized Zone. Military term.
D-novel - A digital novel. D-novels are very popular with people on the move or with cramped living quarters as they only take up space in a computer. Collections of an author's work or short collections are typically stored on a data disk and some of the more expensive versions are narrated.
Drop - Term made popular by action vid-flicks refering to dropping troops into a drop zone (DZ) via paraglider.
DZ - Drop Zone when used by the military - A selected area where troops are deployed or dropped. DZ refers to a Demilitarized Zone when used by planetary police or militia.
FA - Federal Alliance.
GA or Galactic Age - It is unknown how this yearly format was derived or who created it, but it has become a standard dating format. Some claim it is based upon the Planetary Time of the 3rd planet in the Loorma System, but this can't be confirmed as the Loorma sun went nova several million years ago and no one knows what happened to the species that called it home. The original GA is based on a 10 month yearly cycle with 35 days in each month and has 2 seasons - Life and Death - with a 5 day interval between the seasons, some have divided this into other seasons. Yearly dates are typically listed as a 5 digit number with a 2 digit prefix signifying 10,000 years. It is then followed by the number of the season (0. 5 day interval, 1. Life, 2. 5 day interval, 3. Death), the month (01-10), and day (01-35). Usually following this is the time (hours - 00-23 & minutes - 00-60). Shorthand written or stamped yearly dates are typically noted as such - 2453GA8.
Galactic Time - This is a standard time format, set according to the revolving of the center of the galaxy.
Glow Panels - These are typically light panels on the cieling or walls.
Glow Rod - Much like a flashlight, only better.
Hyperspace - The otherspace that allows spaceships to travel across the galaxy at speeds faster than light.
ISW - Infantry Support Weapon.
Kangorn Howlers - A mobile militia unit of the FA made famous by several vid-flicks and d-novels. They're a unit based on the frontier border and subsequently were majorly involved in the Tor'za Defense 43 years ago.
Planetary Time - This is the local planetary time based upon the planets revolution around it's own axis & that of it's sun.
Real Space - That beautiful darkness that fills the galaxy. aka Normal Space.
Rocket Jockeys - CSA Rocket Scouts. These high-risk units have been immortalized as heroes in the wars against the Galactic Imperium by vid-flicks.
SDN - System Defense Net. Typically made up of the system fleet, various stationary battle platforms, and defense grid satellites within a solar system.
Shadowmen - Term given to Galactic Imperium Secret Police by vid-flicks, it is yet to be determined if these actually exist.
TK or Telekinetic - Sniper (refers to the snipers ability to reach out and "touch" a target at long range).
Toy Soldiers - Derogatory slang for the Galactic Imperium Shocktroopers.
TSC - Tri-Star Conferance. A fanatical religious sect.
Useless - In military terms by the Coalition League it means Galactic Imperium officers, especially ranking rear echelon officers.
Vid - Video. Typically a rectangular shaped flat screen used to display various things from ads to movies, i.e. vid-ad.
Vid-flicks - Movies, typically action super thrillers.
