Interview with a Dumb Hacker

Well, for those who don't know, some dingbats decided to hack into my AOL account as they thought it was an Over Head (OH) account. Unfortunately, since AOL went unlimited, there is no longer such a thing as a OH account, therefore making that reason moot. The other reason they decided on my account is that it used to be an AOL community leader account, unfortunately TSR is no longer on AOL & therefore all TSRO screen names are no longer allowed where the hackers wanted to get into.

I did have an absolutely enjoyable conversation with one of the hackers & was able to garner some info from him about other hackers that are around. I would like to make one point here, there are hackers & then there are annoying punks who hack into things & become desruptive.... the hackers that tick me off & that the media goes off on are of the second kind - annoying punks who hack into things just to cause trouble.

For those that would like to read the conversation that took place, I recorded the whole Instant Message (IM) & present it here as a text file. I would encourage others who have the opportunity to toy with these jokers to take it all the way & don't hold back.... once you're finished having your fun with them, be sure to report them! On AOL you can go to Keyword Notify AOL. Other ISPs have other ways to report hacker, people asking for passwords, etc. & I would encourage you to make sure you know where to report these things.

Some people may be reluctant to speak to the hackers or people asking for passwords as they feel like they may not be able to pull it off. I've had several years of programming classes in high school & college as well as some other programming experience & thought I might have to draw upon some of that knowledge... This hacker I spoke to was really dumb & I didn't even have to say much or do much except act like a common stupid criminal (watch the TV show America's Dumbest Criminals to get an idea of what to do ). As for people asking for passwords, they're usually just starting out & don't know squat... I've read several funny recorded chats & the person who was asked for they're password simply acted like they were the person in charge... one even claimed to be sending the FBI to the idiots house to arrest him, & he fell for it!! The poor sap wimpered & cried til the "victim" said he'd call off the FBI if the person wouldn't do it any more. Hehe... what dingbats!
