The Blue Unicorn, a Tavern

October 11, 1997

Boy, this night was rough, but once we got settled down we got some stuff done. This Tavern turned out alot better than I thought it would & kept us so busy we went an hour and a half past my shift! :-)

This Tavern will fit into almost any Coastal area that is close enough to get fairly fresh fish. Hope everyone has fun with this Tavern... I plan to maybe use it as a meeting place for my next set of adventurers ;-)

The Blue Unicorn (or the Plaid Dragon was another great choice)

Drink

Dark Ale, Blue Curacao, Dandilion Wine, Trolls Breath, Moonshine, Thick Mead, Strong Ale, Black Gold (Dwarven Ale), Blue Unicorn (Blue colored blueberry Rum)

Food

Clam Chowder, Mutton, Stew, Fried Fish, Meat & Potatoes, Steak, Boiled Fish, Cheese, Soup in a Bread Bowl, Pork, Venison

Staff

Pebbles Rockpounder (female Dwarf) is the main bartender and Armando a male gnome is her assistant
Lester is a shy male waiter who has a crush on Aoife, but doesn't want to dare the cook's overprotective wrath (but who knows... maybe the cook likes him)
Ursula is a waitress who was a beauty when she was younger, but now is faded into middle age
- think of Carlotta from Cheers or Flo from Mel's Diner - "what is this fly doing in my soup?" reply from Ursula "Backstroke and that is 5cp extra for the entertainment"
- Ursula got promises for marriage, but they were adventurers who went off and got killed or just ran off
Aoife is a cute young lady and is the sister of the cook
Dimitri, the cook, is a 5th lvl Blade, master of martial arts & ginsu, master charmer, cook extraordinaire
- think Jacki Chan in Mr. Nice Guy or Steven Segal
Cletus & Cud are the twin brother team that act as Bouncers and are from a local farm (cowpokes?)
- they enjoy tossing brawlers out the shuttered, although usually open, window

Entertainment

Old Magician whose magic tricks are bad

rabbit out of hat trick would be better if hat didn't move so much
rabbit from the hat trick then gets scared & starts hopping about & magician knocks over table
he casts a clean dust cantrip & stirs up a cloud of dust which scares the rabbit even more
locals think he's hilarious cause he messes up so much

Young beautiful blind female Minstrel

Plays the flute and wears a white dress that flows to the music
She is the granddaughter of the magician
alot of the local farmers think she's dreamy

Misc

stairs are set up so a person must walk down them in order to see the occupants and is aimed at the stage (no railings)
there is a trap door on the bottom of the stage for the quick escape of chased entertainers
patrons usually open the shuttered windows when Cletus or Cud decide to throw brawlers out the windows

- possibilites for ownership ranged from wanting the free drinks to inheriting it & haven't had the chance to sell it yet
