Barbarian technology has progressed to the Advanced Model (see pg103 in Complete Barbarian's Handbook). Tribes usually have domesticated animals (small herds of goats, pigs, cattle, or sheep). Architecture consists of wood frame structures with thatched roofs, stone hearths, & crude stables. Weapons are typically made of bronze or hammered iron. Clothing is of felt, crude tanning, simple weaving (spindle and distaff), & fringed garments. Small boats & primitive saddles are typical types of transportation. Artistry is expressed through simple pottery & reed baskets.
If an iron weapon is used against armor made of bronze, horn, wood, or any weaker material, the attacker gains a +1 bonus to hit. Similarly, if a bronze weapon is used against iron armor, the attacker suffers a -1 penalty to hit. Bronze-on-bronze or iron-on-iron match-ups provide no special bonuses or penalties.
